Q. What is MinVision?
A. MinVision is a new website offering a chance to view and buy minerals online. The site features minerals from The Collector's Edge and Crystal Classics - who are offering some of the best mineral specimens available online. Unlike many sites, this site will be updated on a continual basis, and you can register to receive email alerts when new specimens you might like are listed.
Q. Who is MinVision?
A. MinVision was set up, developed and operated by Jolyon and Ida Ralph (who also run the mindat.org website) in cooperation with The Collector's Edge and Crystal Classics. The MinVision site is a directory site offering you the chance to buy directly from these dealers.
Q. How do I use the site?
A. Simply seach for minerals you are interested in, and if you like something add it to your 'cart' and you can then select to purchase them.
Q. If I choose one mineral from Collector's Edge, and one mineral from Crystal Classics, do I need to make two payments?
A. Yes you do. Because your purchase contract is with the dealer rather than with MinVision, you need to do an individual payment to each dealer if you choose specimens from more than one dealer. Of course, if you buy two specimens from one dealer, you only need to make one payment.
Q. What are your returns policies?
A. First of all, remember you do not buy anything from MinVision so you should never attempt to return anything to us. Each dealer has their own returns policies.

Q. What does a price such as $134 * mean?
A. This means the price for the mineral is listed in another currency (Crystal Classics specimens are price in pounds sterling) and the price shown on screen is an approximation based on current exchange rates. When you go through to your payment the actual amount you end up paying may be slightly more or less than this depending on the exact exchange rate used at the time of purchase.
Q. How do I view prices in my currency?
A. You can select a currency at the bottom left of the menu, when you do this it will display specimens with approximate prices in the currency of your choice.
Q. Some of the text is in a very tiny font!
A. If you are using Internet Explorer and have the font sizes turned down to smaller or smallest, you may see the text smaller than you would like. There are two ways to fix this. The first is to use the Scroll Wheel on your mouse. Hold down the shift key, and you can use the scroll wheel on your mouse to change the text size up and down (this is the most common reason why the text sizes get changed without you realising).
Alternatively, reset your text size to 'Medium' in the View menu, as shown here:
Q. Do I need any special system or browser to use this site?
A. If you are using a Windows PC then both Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla Firefox 1.5 are tested and known working with the site. You must have both cookies and Javascript enabled.
If you use an older (Mac OS 9) Macintosh, you may have serious problems using this site as there are no current browsers available for your system. You should consider upgrading to Mac OS X.
For Mac OS X users, the site appears to mostly work in Safari, although the front-page animated images do not change. Mozilla Firefox 1.5 on the Mac works fine, and is the recommended browser for using with MinVision.
If you are using a version of Mozilla Firefox earlier than 1.5, (or if you are using Internet Explorer and want something better!) you should upgrade here .
