Beryl occurs in the greisen like quartz-mica veins of Mt. Xuebaoding as thick, tabular goshenite, aquamarine and, more rarely, morganite crystals that exhibit dominant pinacoid and hexagonal dipyramid faces with smaller prism faces. These are generally found up to several centimeters in width, but exceptionally reach 20 cm.
The matrix is almost always a bed of silvery muscovite and commonly associated with the beryl are highly lustrous black cassiterite and pale to deep orange pseudo-octahedral scheelite.
