Azurite Roses from Oumjrane Mine, Morocco
We have posted an update of unusually lustrous and very aesthetic miniature Azurite Roses from Oumjrane Mine, Alnif, Meknès-Tafilalet Region, Morocco. This mine is less well known for Azurite specimens than Touissit, but has certainly produced some great specimens.
The Roses are a select group that were created in 2001 by a European dealer, and have been tucked away since then until our purchase of them earlier this year. There have not been many Azurite roses of this quality around on the market for a while, and we are pleased to bring them to light. The Azurites in our update are the best of the group.
Azurite roses typically form in clay beds, and are floaters with no points of attachment. The Azurite crystals grow from a central point radiating out, creating the rose-like formation. Most of these specimens are complete the whole way around, and range from disc-like to more 3-D spherical forms. They are all very aesthetic specimens with well formed, often sharp crystals. The Azurite roses are unusually lustrous, and many have an overgrowth of Azurite microcrystals which add extra sparkle. I can honestly say it is a very hard choice to pick a favourite!
We hope you enjoy them!
Please note that the Azurites are better in person, as they tend to lose their three dimensionality in the photographs.
