Minerva No. 1 Mine, Cave-in-Rock, Hardin Co., Illinois, USA

Two zoned Fluorite crystals are intergrown, the largest measuring to 27mm. The definition of zoning and colour within the crystals is outstanding. Dark purple cores give way to completely transparent pale blue outer edges. The crystal faces exhibit stepped modification which is typical of Minerva Fluorite. One or two very minor dings are present on the main crystal but do not detract from its beauty. These Fluorites are becoming scarce from the market and are well on their way to becoming classics!
