ex. Philadelphia Academy of Natural Sciences Collection
55mm x 50mm x 40mm
An attractive example of Manganite from the type location of Ilfeld, Germany. Slender prismatic crystals with bright metallic lustre have grown from the matrix in different directions. Most crystals measure approx 1mm wide, and up to 10mm in length, but there are several thicker crystals present measuring to 15mm width and 20mm length. Several translucent white tabular Baryte crystals are intergrown with the Manganite, adding nice contrast. The specimen is not pristine, with only a few crystals still showing terminations; it is likely donated to the Academy in the early 1800s, ex. T. F. Moss collection, and is a good representation from this location.$300
