SMITHSONITE with CORONADITE
Image Loading
Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia
80mm x 50mm x 34mm
A fine Smithsonite from Broken Hill, with elongate clusters of translucent to transparent pale grey crystals. The clusters consist of spiky crystals to 8mm length, somewhat resembling the bristles of a paint brush, or commonly described as 'wheat-sheaf'. Smaller individual scalenohedral 'dogs tooth' crystals are also present. The Smithsonite has grown on, and has inclusions of, black Coronadite. With excellent lustre this is a super example of a Broken Hill Smithsonite. Accompanied by a Ward's Natural Science Establishment label (likely circa 1913-1921).$1200
