Dalen-Kjørholt 'Limestone' Mine, Kjørholt, Brevik, Porsgrunn, Telemark, Norway

An interesting specimen in 'stalactitic' form from the new 2007 find of Amber Calcite in Norway. Most Calcite specimens found had scalenohedral crystals, but this specimen is an elongate paddle shape 12mm in width and 108mm high. It is transparent making it possible to see a thread running down the centre of the stalactite, around which it has formed. The specimen has the warm amber colour, and a bright silky lustre. A fascinating specimen with interesting detail for any stalactite collector.
