Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia

Truly interesting combination of multiple generations of Smithsonite growth on both sides of this specimen. The detail on each side is impressive; clusters of translucent light green elongte crystals of Smithsonite line the cavity with a darker green lustrous microcrystalline generation alongside. Beneath is an orange Ferruginous crust on Calcite rhombs. The reverse of the specimen exhibits similar dark and light green Smithsonite but progresses to a dark red colour in the last phases, probably due to the inclusion of Iron.
