Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia

40mm x 30mm x 22mm
Tsumeb is famous for pseudomorphs, especially for Malachite after Azurite combinations. This miniature is fantastic example; well formed lustrous blue Azurite crystals have been replaced by dark green Malachite with a sub-adamantine lustre. Sharply formed individual crystals of translucent dark blue Azurite are in turn perched upon the Malachite. Some of the older pseudomorphed terminations have delicate 'caps' of Azurite, suggesting the two minerals are in equilibrium. Beautifully detailed display specimen!
