This is a neat example of precious Opal from the collection of the Academy of Natural Sciences, Philadelphia. The siliceous nodule has been opened to reveal a cavity partially filled by translucent milky white Opal with a dominantly green to yellow iridescence. The Opal has a flat surface as if the siliceous fluid filled the cavity to a certain level before forming Opal. Lovely 'fire' and colour play in this historical piece.$250
